Asin refused to sign a contract for London Dreams, which dictated her interaction with the media
Though Tamil actress Asin is just one film old in Bollywood, she has learnt not to bow down to Bollywood ways. Learning from her Ghajini experience, wherein her interaction with the media was curbed, Asin has refused to sign a contract for London Dreams which governed her media interactions.
A source from the industry said, “Asin was irked with Aamir Khan and the production house for having restricted her from interacting with the media during the making of Ghajini, which took almost two years. Ghajini took longer than usual to get made because of a number of reasons — one of them being Aamir’s injury.
Though a contract bound Asin kept mum about being told not to interact with the media, she was not happy about it. At one point she even raised the issue of being more accessible to the media, but to no effect. But she’s turned wiser now.
When Vipul Shah, producer of London Dreams asked Asin to sign a contract stating a similar clause, she put her foot down. She turned down the gag contract saying that she wants to be vocal on her accord and does not want to feel caged anymore.”
Considering that Asin is an established actress down south and was making her splash in Bollywood to expand her spectrum of Read the full story

At mother Tanuja’s insistence, Kajol asks Karan Johar to give her a more prominent role in My Name Is Khan
It is said that art imitates life. Following real life examples, over the years our Bollywood films have been replete with hilarious examples where mothers of top actresses accompany their daughters to film sets and tell sundry spot boys ‘baby ke liye juice lao’. However, this time the situation is neither that simple nor lighthearted.
Ask Karan Johar who is not having an easy time shooting for the Shah Rukh Khan- Kajol starrer My Name Is Khan in Los Angeles. Kajol who agreed to do the film after a lot of deliberation is now asking for a far more prominent role in the film. This comes as a surprise considering the deep friendship between Kajol and Karan Johar.
And evidently it is Kajol’s mother Tanuja, who is accompanying her, who is to be blamed. Our sources say that Kajol demanded that Karan give her more punchy dialogues only on her mother’s insistence.
An insider said, “Kajol has realised that she does not have too much to do in the film since the film completely revolves around Shah Rukh. Sensing Kajol’s turmoil, Tanuja asked Kajol to convince Karan to give her dialogue which will leave a more lasting impression.”
After Kajol had a talk with Karan, we hear that he had no choice but to bow Read the full story

One week after the Golden Globes and Slumdog Millionaire, Shah Rukh Khan talks to BT about going to LA and walking on stage with lead actress Freida Pinto in hand to present Danny Boyle’s film on Mumbai with the prestigious award. “It was a historic moment and I felt proud to be an Indian,” said the actor who was introduced as the King of Bollywood and who…yes, had rejected the role in the film that subsequently went to Anil Kapoor!
How different was the Golden Globes from our award shows?
The people are very gracious and are genuinely happy for each other’s success. In India we go to such functions only to collect our own awards and sneak away. There people stayed back and shared the happiness in the get-together.
Were you intimidated by Hollywood’s biggies?
No, I felt confident like always. Given a chance, I would have shown them some Bollywood pelvic movements!
What stopped you?
I don’t know how they would have taken it, they are not familiar with our humour, it would have been a little out of place.
How are Hollywood’s A-listers?
Usually I am very anti-social. But that night I was taken around and it was Read the full story

Cate Blanchett discusses her role in Oscar-tipped The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and working with the ‘annoyingly’ loved-up Brad Pitt.

Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Of all the challenges presented by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – the near three-hour running time, the unusual story structure, the copious amount of make-up – Cate Blanchett found that her biggest problem came courtesy of her leading man, Brad Pitt.
“Honestly,” she smiles, “to see how in love with Angelina he is, it was really quite disgusting. Awful in fact. It’s in my contract now: I won’t ever work with him again.” She is joking of course.
