World premiere of the full-length Bangla feature film ‘Gangajatra’ (The Journey) will be held on the Eid day on Channel-i. The film will be telecast at 2:25pm. The Star Cineplex will also release the film on the day.
The film is scripted and directed by Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond and starred by Ferdous and Popy. Hasan Ahmed worked on camera.
The story of the film deals with Rupa, a sex worker who gives birth to a baby girl and now she becomes desperate to get out from the brothel with her dear daughter.
Regarding the film, Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond who has earned fame as the presenter of real life, said, ‘I have tried to uphold humanity in the film. I have tried to uphold the rights of people irrespective of professions.’
He explains, ‘There are some people in our society who became different at night. People from all strata of life irrespective of their religions visits brothel and touch a sex worker. But when a sex worker dies, she becomes untouchable.’
Regarding the experience during shooting of the film Diamond said, ‘We had shot the film in hot temperature as for the sake of the film we wanted this kind of atmosphere.’
It is said that In the middle of the shooting, 1200ft expose negative kept in the digital lab of FDC was stolen. In this regard he said ‘I had re-shot the film. I do not know actually who were involved in stealing the reel. But I hope the viewers will enjoy the film.’ Courtesy
